Penile Girth Enhancement Options in Miami: A Board-Certified Urologist's Guide

Published: March 30, 2026 • Written by David Robbins, MD, Board-Certified Urologist, North Miami, FL

Many men suffer from low self-esteem due to the size and girth of their penis. This feeling of inadequacy can have detrimental effects in their relationship as well as their overall well-being. If you are considering penile girth enhancement, the most important decision you will make—before you even decide on a procedure—is choosing the right physician.

At Urological Consultants of Florida, I offer men in Miami and South Florida access to the two leading evidence-based approaches to penile girth enhancement, both performed by a board-certified urologist with deep expertise in penile anatomy and surgery.

The Himplant: FDA-Cleared Surgical Implant

The Himplant is the first and only FDA-cleared penile implant for cosmetic enhancement. It is a medical-grade, silicone penile implant placed beneath the skin of the shaft to provide lasting enhancement in both flaccid and erect states. The implant maintains natural function and sensation and is customized to fit each patient's anatomy, ensuring symmetry and a natural feel.

Many patients have experienced an increase in girth of 1–2 inches and potential improvements in flaccid length. The Himplant is built for durability and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. It is designed to be removable if necessary. Individual results may vary.

The Himplant is best suited for men who want a long-lasting, durable solution and who meet candidacy requirements including being circumcised, in good general health, and having no prior history of penile enhancement procedures with foreign materials.

Penile Shaft Girth Enlargement Using Dermal Filler

Non-surgical penile girth enhancement using dermal fillers are gaining significant traction in the world of male cosmetic interventions resulting from excellent aesthetic outcomes and high patient satisfaction. The safest and most effective material to perform penile enhancement procedures is a Hyaluronic Acid injection called Juvéderm.

Any man who is not currently satisfied with the appearance of his penis may be a candidate for a penile girth or shaft enhancement procedure with a few exceptions. Any patient with a known hypersensitivity to dermal fillers or hyaluronic acid should avoid this procedure. Additionally, patients with active inflammatory conditions of the penis such as balanitis or the acute phase of peyronie's disease should hold off on penile dermal filler procedures until their acute condition has been treated.

The penile enlargement procedure is performed fully conscious in Dr. Robbins' office. There is no need for presurgical labs and testing as the procedure is performed using a combination of local and topical anesthesia resulting in minimal discomfort. The entire procedure can be performed in approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour. Hyaluronic acid (Juvéderm) produces an excellent natural elastic feel in both the flaccid and erect states. Men can return to normal activities the same day, but sexual activity must be held ideally for 1–2 weeks.

The manufacture of the high-quality hyaluronic acid brand (Juvéderm) that Dr. Robbins uses is projected to last for 12 to 24 months. Of course, every person and situation is unique and results and duration of response can vary with each individual.

Approaches to Avoid

Not all penile enhancement procedures are created equal. As a urologist, I strongly caution men against the following methods that are not FDA-cleared for penile enhancement and carry significant risk:

  • Fat transfer injections — associated with fat reabsorption, uneven results, and penile deformity
  • Silicone injections — non-FDA-approved industrial silicone that can cause granulomas, migration, and permanent damage
  • PMMA microspheres — permanent material that cannot be easily removed and may lead to complications
  • AlloDerm skin grafts — risk of graft rejection, uneven results, and the need for surgical revision
  • Suspensory ligament release — potential for scar tissue formation, retraction over time, and no girth increase

Men who have undergone any of these procedures may be ineligible for the Himplant due to permanent tissue damage. This is one more reason to choose your initial procedure carefully and work with a qualified urologist from the start.

Why Choose a Board-Certified Urologist?

Dr. Robbins is a board-certified urological surgeon specializing in surgical diseases of the male genital and urinary tract. After graduating with honors from NYU Medical School, Dr. Robbins completed a 6-year urological residency program at NYU as well. As a urological surgeon in practice since 2009, Dr. Robbins has performed countless penile surgical procedures including penile implant surgeries for erectile dysfunction and surgical procedures for peyronies disease. As a urological surgeon, Dr. Robbins is significantly more experienced with penile anatomy and penile surgery as compared to an internal medicine physician, dermatologist or plastic surgeon that may be offering penile enhancement procedures.
